Mountains cover 95% of the territory of Kyrgyzstan and 40% of those are above 3,000 meters high. The Kyrgyz don’t even bother naming peaks lower than 4,000 meters. This was the location of a two Rocky Mountain Section trips this last summer - one involving a 2 week trek up the Inychek Glacier, the 6th largest glacier in the world, and second involving alpine climbing in the Ala Archa national park, just south of Bishkek, the capital. This slide show, presented by Steve Fedyna, Jackie Clark and other members of the climbing team, will highlight this spectacular area.
