Glacier Skills: 18 February 2019

Wapta Icefield

Learn the ropes on this intensive two-day course, where we will cover all of the techniques needed for safe winter travel on glaciated terrain.

Day One we will meet in Lake Louise to sign waivers and check gear, then head up the 93N.  From Bow Lake, we will skin up to Bow Hut, where we can go over some glacier travel or crevasse rescue topics. Day Two we will get up onto the Icefield to put principles into practice.

Prerequisites: participants should be experienced in the use of their touring equipment (splitboard, alpine touring or telemark skis) and be physically prepared for a moderate distance and elevation gain to the hut
